Lately, I’ve been working on RV renovations, and in my garage… I’ve got some unwanted co-workers—flies.
They buzz in my ears, land on my face, and honestly make me want to invent a new Olympic sport: “Swatting While Building.”
I finally got a fly trap. Simple concept: you put something the flies are attracted to inside the bag, hang it up, and once they go in—they can’t get out.
That got me thinking… this is exactly how the enemy works.
Satan rarely shows up with a pitchfork yelling, “I’m here to destroy you!” No—he’s more subtle. He studies us, finds out what we’re naturally drawn to, and baits the trap.
It could be a show.
It could be a song.
It could be a relationship.
It could even be something harmless for someone else—but for you, it’s a snare.
Just like there are different traps for different animals, the devil uses custom bait for each person. What tempts one may not tempt another.
The Bible says, “Resist the devil, and he will flee from you” (James 4:7) and “Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves” (Luke 9:23).
That means dying to those carnal urges that bring temporary pleasure but can lead to eternal damage.
Not everything that looks good… is good.
Pray. Test it. Stay aware of the schemes.
And if you find yourself in a trap—remember—Jesus is the one who can set you free.
