Ten songs about The Ten Commandments? That’s right, let’s go on a musical journey with a song for each command.

Why This Album?

In my journey to become a better follower of Christ I came across the passage of John 14:15 which Jesus says ” if you love me, you’ll keep my commandments” But what are His commandments? As I researched , I realized that they are nothing new from what the Prophets of old were saying.  Jesus didn’t come to “abolish” the law (Matthew 5:17) but through his Life, Death, and Resurrection showed us how to live them out.  Jesus tells us if we want to be great in the Kingdom of God then we need to “practice and teach” all these commands ( Matthew 5:19 ).  In his Sermon on the Mount, he teaches us to do more than what is required in the Law by getting rid of any thoughts that would cause us to stumble. He’s like don’t even say words that degrade your neighbor in your mind ( Matthew 5:21-22 ) or look on a woman with lust and commit adultery in your heart (Matthew 5:28). Of course, the cultural laws like circumcision and dietary things are nullified because Jesus’ death and resurrection took care of that, but the moral law is still in effect. God is more concerned about the heart ( 1 Samuel 16:7) rather than what goes into our stomach or how things appear (Matthew 15:11).  The Ten Commandments are so important to my Christian faith because without them I would have no reason to think I’m a sinner in need of God’s saving grace. SO, in the step with fulfilling my Christian calling to make disciple of nations,  I employed my musical abilities to create this album in hopes that it would inspire people to remember, respond, and live out God’s commands. Scottish writer, politician, and patriot Andrew Fletcher said: “Let me write the songs of a nation – I don’t care who writes its laws.” So I figured, what better way to ingrain these precepts and make a positive change in culture, than placing these commands in songs that repeat in one’s mind over , and over? So the project began!
