Today my car was a little low on oil, I noticed it last night when things were running a little rough. So before I went to serve at a feeding ministry this morning I had to pour some more oil in! I took the oil cap off, poured new oil in, and made my way to the feeding ministry. As I was driving down the road it finally struck me, “Hey, you never put the oil cap back on!”. I was so mad at myself! I pulled over to the nearest gas station and popped the hood to see some of the engine oil on the engine, and the cap missing! I then go to an Autozone to get another cap, and more oil to replace what was lost. I pop my hood again… and there laying on the front part of my engine is the oil cap that I forgot to put on! Lord help me…
This is what happens when you go to bed at 2 AM working on stuff and wake up early. I was so frustrated at myself because I thought I was going to be late to the feeding ministry, but then a message came to me, It said “RECAP God’s oil ( anointing ) on you… or you’re going to lose out on the FULLNESS of what has been poured in. Don’t move so fast that you don’t take time to Remember…It is through remembering that we retain the right attitude, and the righteous Spirit to move forward. My frustration began to cease because I saw how God used this silly moment to remind me of serious matters.
If we forget where God brought us from then our heart/engine is going to have a rough time moving forward. You know a car cannot run gracefully with low oil and we cannot run gracefully without being full of God’s Spirit. When we forget to Remember the anointing God placed on us, then we start to feel that friction in our engine, in our heart! But when we retain the call and Spirit that God gave us, then our engines move forward with grace and power.
My prayer is that we don’t grieve the Holy Spirit through unbelief, and forgetting how it was his power that brought us through the first time – not our power or intellect. I pray we recap of how our lives were in the gutter, and how he pulled us out! I pray we remember the calling and retain the Spirit of God placed on each of our lives as we travel down this road of life. Remember where God has brought you from and Recapture it because God hasn’t given us a spirit of fear, but of love, power, and a sound mind.
The Spirit of the Sovereign LORD is on me, because the LORD has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners, (Isaiah 61:1)
Dear Heavenly Father, may I continue to keep your Spirit in me and move forward with grace. May I Recap all you have poured into me, and never waste my anointing by forgetting who you are, and what you’ve called me to do. Hallelujah!
