” As a dog returns to its vomit, so fools repeat their folly.” (Proverbs 26:11)
As we were reading through the Bible in one year today Proverbs 26:3-12 NIV stood out. Proverbs talk about what fools do, and about picking the right people for the right positions in your business. You don’t just go grab anyone for a job, you don’t just say ” Oh this person will do” NOPE. You have to pick the right person if your business is going to thrive, and that goes for relationships too. When you pick the right person, then things go well. Don’t just pick anyone to be with you or handle your serious business ” Sending a message by the hands of a fool
is like cutting off one’s feet or drinking poison.”(v. 6 )
The thing about a fool is that they don’t learn from their mistakes. They don’t make documents of their error. They just mess up and keep going without pondering what caused their dilemma. So like a dog returning to its vomit so a fool returns to their folly. Fools don’t learn a THING about what they did wrong.
In conclusion, we must be careful about the type of people we allow to have an influence on our lives. Many times we repeat the same mistakes because we don’t change who or what we allow in our environment. If you want to start eating healthy, then you must get rid of the option of junk food in your pantry. Don’t bring junk in your house, then you don’t have to deal with the temptation of eating junk food. We need to learn from our mistakes, not repeat them. That starts with cleaning up the vomit. If you don’t want the dog to return to the vomit, then clean it up, and provide better options.
Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father helps us today to learn from our mistakes, and not repeat them. Amen
