What is a friend? The dictionary defines it as “ A person with whom one has a bond of mutual affection, typically exclusive of sexual or family relations”
Why is it important to have good friends? The Bible tells us in Ecclesiastes 4:9-12 Two are better than one because they have a good return for their labor: If either of them falls down, one can help the other up. Do you value your friendships? Ecclesiastes says that two are better than one, and with a partner, you will have a good return rather than working alone.
Think about that for a moment… Jesus is the prime example of a good friend… with him, we have entry to heaven. He paid that price with his life so we could have that privilege. To be a good friend we should strive to be like him in our relationships.
1 Corinthians 15:33 says,
Do not be misled: “Bad company corrupts good character.”
We should find people, and be people that help build good character.
Think for a moment…
How are your friends helping you build good moral character? How are you helping them build good moral character? How are you and your friends building a life that’s closer to God?
